Gjutjärnselektrod ESAB OK 92.18 Typ Basisk
Nickel electrode for welding gray iron, ductile iron and malleable cast iron. The electrode is suitable for e.g. filling of casting defects. Before welding, any casting skin and oil residues must be carefully removed from the joint surface. When welding thick-walled cast iron, preheating between 150-300°C is recommended. The welding should take place in short stages, so-called block or back step welding. A light forging between the stringing reduces the risk of shrinkage cracks. Cooling after welding must be done slowly. When cold welding, the lowest possible welding current and the smallest possible electrode diameter with regard to the thickness of the base material must be used. Limit the melting of the base material by directing the arc more towards the melt, at least towards the joint edges but without jeopardizing the bond. The welding material is well machinable.
